- California-mandatory 20% discount for drivers with 3+ years licensed, no at-fault crashes, and no more than 1 minor violation in the 3-year lookback.

- Territory rating factor
- A filed ZIP-level multiplier reflecting local claim frequency and severity. Marin County Bay Area ZIPs typically carry above-statewide-median territory factors.

- Liability coverage
- Pays for injuries and property damage you cause to others. California minimum is $15,000/$30,000/$5,000; most Bay Area professionals carry $100K/$300K/$100K.

- Collision coverage

- Other-than-collision (comprehensive) coverage

- Uninsured motorist coverage (UMBI/UMPD)

- SR-22
- A certificate of financial responsibility filed by a carrier with the DMV. Proof of insurance, not a separate policy. Required after DUI, license suspension, or uninsured crash.

- Deductible
- The amount you pay out of pocket before coverage applies. Higher deductibles lower the premium; the tradeoff is cash needed at claim time.

- TNC / rideshare endorsement
